| Asplenium
flabellifolium (necklace fern) is a very common
native fern that mostly grows in humid microsites in dry
rocky places. It is a small fern with leaves pinnately
divided into wedge-shaped leaflets. The sori are elongated,
placed on the underside of the lamina and are protected by a
flap of the lamina (an indusium).
It is often confused with Lindsaea
linearis, which differs in having the sori
extending along the margins of the leaflets, and mostly
grows in wet heaths. It could also be confused with A. trichomanes,
but has slender, flexible stems.
