| Pinus
wallichiana (bhutan pine) is a southern European tree
that has been planted in various parts of Tasmania and has
become naturalised in a few places.
It is a large, erect tree with spreading branches and
very distinctive foliage. The leaves are long needles and
are held in clusters of five with a brown sheath around
the base. The female cones are large, elongated and woody.
Pinus pinaster
and P. radiata have
also been naturalised in Tasmania. They have shorter cones
than P. wallichiana and either two (P.
pinaster) or three (P. radiata) leaves per
fascicle.
