| Pinus
radiata (radiata pine or monterey pine) is a North
American tree that has been widely planted in forestry
plantations and has become naturalised in many parts of
Tasmania.
It is an erect tree with spreading branches and very
distinctive foliage. The leaves are long needles (7-14 cm
long) and are held in clusters of three with a brown
sheath around the base. The female cones are large and
woody.
Pinus pinaster
and P. wallichiana
have also been naturalised in Tasmania. They have
either two (P. pinaster) or five (P. wallichiana)
leaves per fascicle. P. wallichiana has very
elongate cones.
