Milligania densiflora (Asteliaceae) 4B:371

Milligania densiflora is the most common species of Milligania (although still less widspread
and common than its cousin, Astelia alpina). It is a native herb that occurs widely in open,
high rainfall, alpine and subalpine areas of central, southern and western Tasmania. It is
common on boggy heaths and wet rocky areas. It is often larger than the other high altitude
species (M. stylosa and M. lindoniana), with leaves up to 55cm long. The flowers are white,
but sometimes are tinged red on the tube and the throat.
