Equisetum
hyemale (horsetail) is a vigorous weedy species that
like wet ground or ponds. It is unmistakeable - the foliage
resembles much enlarged branchlets of
Allocasuarina (sharing the same unusual leaf
arrangement), but softer, erect and unbranched. The stems
can have terminal cones.
