| Rosa
rubiginosa (briar rose or sweet briar) is a
common introduced woody weed. It is spiny, and easily
distinguished from Blackberry
and other brambles by habit - it lacks the long spindly
stems of brambles. It is more similar to dog rose (R.
canina), but has hairy undersides to the leaves.
