Clematis
clitorioides is a widespread and abundant native
climbing species. It is often found in the understorey of
wet forest (but rarely in rainforest). It is similar to
another common native species, C.
aristata, except the leaves tend to be
untoothed, often have five leaflets (rather than 3) and the
tepals are hairless underneath.
