| Plantago
antarctica (mountain plantain) is a
medium-sized, flat, native rosette herb with a taproot. It
grows in grassy places in the eastern and central mountains.
The leaves are hairy, typically 3-12 cm long, with a short,
broad stalk and 3-5 obvious longitudinal veins. The often
have a few teeth. It is one of a group of similar species,
including the very common species P.
varia and three other lowland native
species. |
