This family includes a native and an introduced
species of Sambucus (Elders), as well as Viburnum
tinus. These plants have large, opposite, pinnate
leaves, abundant, small white flowers and small black,
fleshy fruit.
The family was once included in the large
family, Caprifoliaceae,
which is represented in Tasmania by a couple of introduced
species.
