Jamesoniella colorata (Jungermanniaceae)

Jamesoniella colorata is an extremely common subalpine liverwort, typically found growing in large clumps on rock or on the ground. It can also be found growing epiphytically in higher altitude rainforest. In the field this species is easily recognized by their red coloration, especially in very exposed areas. However, green forms also exist, especially in less exposed areas. The leaves are papillose when viewed under the microscope
