Solenostoma inundatum (previously
Jungermannia inundata) is a reasonably common liverwort of
wet banks beside forest streams.
In ideal conditions,
S. inundatum forms extensive carpets on damp clay banks in
wet forest or rainforest. The shoots of this species are erect and
often not exceeding 5mm. Under a light microscope, trigones (wall
thickenings at the cell corners) are present and every cell has
around 2-3 oil bodies.
