| Hibbertia
acicularis (prickly guineaflower) is a low growing,
slender shrub with leaves tapering to a hard, sharp point.
It is reasonably common in sandy soils.
The only species with which it can be confused are the
rare species, H.
mathinnicola (which is only found near
Scamander, and has sessile flowers) and H.
rufa (which also has pointed leaves, a tuft of
hairs at the tip of the leaf and is only known from north
of St Helens).
