Limonium australe (yellow sea-lavender) is a rare coastal plant. It grows near the waters edge in grassy patches of saltmarsh. It occurs mainly along the north coast.

The leaves are fairly succulent, more or less spoon shaped with quite a long petiole and occur in a rosette. The flowers have yellow petals, but the white, papery sepals fused into a tube are more obvious. The flowers occur in complex, many flowered complex inflorescences. The flowers only occur on one side of the inflorescence branches.

This species is very similar in habitat and habit to L. baudinii.
