Spiranthes (Orchidaceae) 4a:128     Spiranthes australis (spiral orchid) is a widespread but not very common species that grows in boggy places. It has several fairly narrow leaves arranged in a loose rosette at the base of the stem. The flowers are very small but distinctive - being narrow, red and spirally twisted around the stem.
