| Tasmania
has seven species of Diuris (sometimes called
donkey orchids). These orchids are readily identified by the
conspicuous golden yellow flowers (often with some red
patches) held on often quite tall erect stems with several
narrow leaves.
Several species (D. chryseopsis, D. lanceolata
and D. monticola) are known as golden moths and
the petals are held out sideways, rather than erect, as in
the other species.
