Wurmbea latifolia (broadleaf early nancy) is rare in Tasmania known from a solitary population at Woolnorth close to Cape Grim in the North West of the State.  It is located in grasslands close to the coast. 

It grows up to 15 cm in height, has 3 linear leaves and  produces 2 to 9  white flowers with white nectaries.  The flowers are sweetly scented, appearing in July and August.  An oval shaped capsule up to 1.5 cm in length contains globular, smooth brown seeds.  The species is dormant during summer, re-growing early winter in response to rain.

Species distinguishing characteristics: dioecious (female and male flowers occur on different plants); male flowers are slightly larger; white nectaries.
