Dianella amoena is a rare native species found in
areas of dry grasslands and eucalypt woodlands. The leaves
are rather different from the other Tasmanian species of Dianella
– the blades are not recurved or revolute. They have small
widely spaced teeth and do not form a conspicuous sheath at
the base. They are also relatively small – less than 45 cm
long. The flowers are different from the other species in
that the anthers are pale lime-yellow (rather than brown)
and are longer than the yellow swollen part of the filament.
