A. strictum (chocolate lily) is a perennial herb to
about 1m high. Tubers are attached to the ends of the roots,
about 3-5 cm from rootstock. The leaves are grass-like and
up to 40 cm long. The inflorescence is usually branched,
with solitary, purple, chocolate-scented flowers.
