Thelionema (Asphodelaceae [formerly part of Liliaceae]) 4b:379 Tasmania has two native species of Thelionema. These are similar to each other and grow in sandy or peaty heaths or in the understorey of open forest. The plant has a moderate-sized tuft of leaves at the base of the stem. The leaves are up to about 40 cm long. The flowers are white-yellow (or sometimes blue in the case of T. caespitosum)  and conspicuous and occur in a terminal inflorescence.
