Hyacinthus (Hyacinthaceae [formerly part of Liliaceae]) not in the Student's Flora
Hyacinthus orientalis (Garden Hyacinth) is a very common garden species that appears to have escaped in a few places. The leaves are flat, about 2cm wide and all at the base of the plant. The individual flowers are blue-purple, with petals free, but held together in a tube.
