Blandfordia
punicea (christmas bells) is a large tufted native
species that grows in button grass and damp heaths on very
nutrient poor soils, ranging from Bruny Island, south-west
Tasmania and reaching Rocky Cape.
The leaves are up to about 1.5m long, ribbed, green with
reddish tinges. The flowers are conspicuous and distinctive
- red (with a yellowish interior), tubular, hanging
downwards, about 2cm long, and in terminal inflorescences. |
