Amaryllis belladonna (belladonna lily or naked lady)
is a very common garden species that has become established
in both urban and rural areas.
It is a robust clump-forming plant with conspicuous pink
or pink and white flowers that occur in umbels at the end
of dark erect stems. One very distinctive feature is that
the flowers come out in autumn, at a time when the plant
is leafless. At the time of flowering, the plant looks
like a saprophyte.
