Huperzia australiana (Lycopodiaceae)

Huperzia
australiana (fir clubmoss; formerly known as Huperzia
selago and Lycopodium australianum) is
a native clubmoss that grows in many alpine areas, but is
never common. It grows as small erect plants, with rather
thick stems and narrow leaves (making it looks a little like
a branch of a fir tree). The most distinctive feature is
that small plantlets often grow among the leaves, giving the
plant an untidy appearance. It does not have sporangia
arranged in distinct "cones" (strobili) as in Lycopodium
or Lycopodiella.
