| Lagarosiphon
major is a commonly cultivated species of fishponds
and aquaria, but can escape to become a troublesome aquatic
weed of ponds and streams. It grows submerged, and forms a
tangled mass of stems. The stems are brittle and 2-3 mm in
diameter (distinctly wider than its relatives Egeria
densa and Elodea
canadensis). The leaves are alternate
and stiff. |
