Pimelea is a conspicuous and common genus in the
Tasmanian flora. There are 18 native species, with the
majority commonly known as riceflower. Most of these are
erect shrubs (rarely small trees). However, P. pygmaea
is a soft cushion plant and P. filiformis is a
prostrate subshrub. In most species the leaves are
opposite and decussate.
