Tasmania has one introduced species of this genus,
Daphne laureola. It is an invasive,
glossy-leaved shrub up to 1.5 m high. Leaves are
5 - 12 cm long, dark green and are arranged
alternately. It has been found in bushland near the
Western Tiers, Mt Wellington and Collinsvale and a few other
sites. All parts of the plant are toxic and it is
often mistaken for Anopterus glandulosus, the
Tasmanian laurel.
