| Galium
aparine (cleavers) is a widespread and abundant weed
that occurs in waste places and gardens, including gullies.
It is the most robust of the Galium species and the
most common of the introduced species. The leaves are large
(>10mm long) and in whorls more at least 6. The stems are
often more than 50 cm long.
The stems have very small prickles that cause the plant
to cling to clothing and skin alike.
