Tasmania
has one native species of Geum. G. talbotianum
is an uncommon but conspicuous, prostrate alpine herb. It
has large, dark green leaves about 5-10 cm wide, which are
almost entire, but wrinkled. The flowers are large (~3-5 cm
wide), white and solitary on long peduncles. One species, G.
urbanum (with yellow flowers), was considered to have
become naturalised in Tasmania, but now no longer occurs
outside of cultivation.
