Ranunculus
repens
(creeping buttercup) is a widespread and common weed on
roadsides, gardens and farms. It has creeping leafy runners
and erect flowering stems up to 60cm tall. The leaves are
large (up to 8cm wide), trifoliate, with each leaflet
usually lobed and/or toothed. They are usually hairy. It has
conspicuous, golden yellow flowers about 3cm wide. The
distinctive feature is the thick above ground stems
(stolons) connecting the rosettes.
