Ranunculus gunnianus ( Ranunculaceae)

Ranunculus gunnianus (tufted buttercup) is a
reasonably common alpine herb, with small rosettes and a
thick rootstock and fibrous roots. It grows in wet places on
the mountain tops. The leaves are divided pinnately into
very narrow, but thick, dull green lobes. The flowers are
large (about 3cm across) glossy yellow, with up to 24 petals
that are purplish on the back. |
