Pennisetum (Poaceae) 4b:347

Tasmania has three naturalised species of feathergrass (Pennisetum). One kikuyu (P. clandestinum) is a coarse spreading perennial with the inflorescences hidden among the upper leaves. The others feathertop (P. villosum) and african feathergrass (P. macrourum) are large tufted perennials with quite dense panicles. The leaves are flat, with the ligule in the form of a line of hairs. The spikes have one fertile floret subtended by a male or sterile flower.
