| Tasmania
has one native and three introduced species of Festuca.
These have open panicles of spikelets, which have
several florets. It is quite a variable genus, often
identified by elimination.
Festuca is distinguished from Austrofestuca
by having the lemmas rounded on the back and not keeled.
Festuca rubra is red fescue or chewings fescue. F.
