Distichlis
distichophylla is a common native grass, found in
saline areas - especially beside coastal lagoons. The habit
is reasonably distinctive. The stems are prostrate, but
typically turn up so that the upper parts are erect,
occasionally branched stems that have the leaves in two rows
widely spreading from the stems. The leaves are usually up
to 7 cm long and a few mm wide, and are evenly spread along
the upper sections of the stems. There are separate male and
female plants.
