Pampas grass (Cortaderia) is a genus of vigorous grasses from New Zealand and South America. Three species have become naturalised in Tasmania. They form very large tussocks up to 4.5m high. The leaf blades are flat, with sharp, serrated edges. The flowers form massive, feathery inflorescences held well above the leaves.
