| Plantago
coronopus (buckshorn plantain) is a very common
introduced rosette herb with a taproot. It is widespread,
and is especially common on coasts and near roads. The
leaves are usually lobed (sometimes deeply so), are usually
lightly hairy on both surfaces, and are held more-or-less
flat to the ground. They have short petioles and
distinct midrib, but not the parallel veins typical of many
other Plantago species. They may range from 2-20cm
long. |
