Pittosporum undulatum is an occasional woody weed in forests or woodlands, especially at low altitude. It is a small tree.

It occasionally hybridises with P. bicolor to produce plants that resemble P. undulatum, but have a few hairs and leaves that are not undulate. This was once called P. undulatum var. emmettii.
