Banksia marginata (Proteaceae) 3:615 Banksia marginata (silver banksia or native honeysuckle) is very common and remarkably widespread - occurring in coastal heath, dry forest, wet forest, subalpine woodlands and in and around button grass vegetation. It grows from a prostrate shrub to a medium sized, many branched tree. The leaves are white underneath usually with an obvious, fine reticulate pattern. They vary in size and shape, but are usually at least three times as long as wide, with an emarginate tip. The cones are moderate sized (rarely more than 10 cm long and 5 cm broad).
