Tasmania
has one native species of the large genus, Conospermum.
C. hookeri (tasmanian smokebush), formerly known as C.
taxifolium is a rare plant found near sea
level on the east coast of Tasmania from, Bruny Island to
Cape Barren Island. The narrow, soft, leaves and
inflorescences with abundant small, light coloured flowers
are distinctive. From a distance they resemble some Ozothamnus
species.
