Banksia (Proteaceae) 3:614   Banksia is one of the most distinctive and well known genera in Australia. The distinctive feature is the flowers grouped into dense spikes that develop into persistent woody cones. Most species have tough, reasonably large leaves. Tasmania has two extant native species (B. marginata and B. serrata) and one species (B. integrifolia) that is now listed as extinct. B. integrifolia was last collected in 1984 on Long Island in Bass Strait.
