Viola improcera

Viola
improcera is a very rare perennial herb discovered
recently in Tasmania in scrub patches on a north-facing
slope above Carr Villa in Ben Lomond National Park at an
altitude of between 1200 m and 1300 m.
It has well-developed stolons (runners).
Leaves, up to 14 mm long and 9 mm wide, are egg-shaped to
rhomboid and grouped in a rosette.
Petals are white to bluish-violet inside and bluish-violet
outside.
Flowering and fruiting are from December to January. The
fruit is a uniformly dark, narrowly egg-shaped capsule.
