| Dodonaea
viscosa (native hop or broadleaf hopbush) is a very
common and widespread native species that occurs in dry to
damp sclerophyll forests, and also near the coast. It is
often a small tree. The leaves are sticky on both surfaces
and are typically widest near the tip, blunt or with a
short, soft point (a mucro), and are often about 5 cm long
and about 1cm wide.
The distinctive three-winged fruit are unique to this
species and its less common relative, D.
filiformis.
