minute, downward-facing and hidden among the leaves; petals
scarcely exceeding the calyx. Plant of low elevation sites.

cleistogamoides
Corolla white
or very pale mauve and of uniform colour inside; violet or
blue- outside and >6 mm in diameter; petals extending
well beyond the calyx. Plant of montane and sub-alpine
sites.
