Ilex (Aquifoliaceae) not in The Student's Flora The introduced tree species, Ilex aquifolium (holly), is the only species of Aquifoliaceae in Tasmania. Its thick, ovate/elliptical, glossy green leaves which often have hard, sharp teeth and its clusters of red berries make it unmistakable.
