SAPINDACEAE 1:196

This mainly tropical family is represented by only two native species of Dodonaea and one introduced species, Acer pseudoplatanus (maple).

The native Dodonea are known as native hop or hopbush because of their highly distinctive fruit, which has three reddish brown wings. Both species have dark green, viscous leaves. D. viscosa (broadleaf hopbush) has obovate leaves, whereas D. filiformis (fineleaf hopbush) has very narrow leaves.
