GYROSTEMONACEAE 3:581 Only one species of the small family Gyrostemonaceae grows in Tasmania. It is a small native shrub (Gyrostemon thesioides) that grows in dry vegetation in the north and east of the state. It has narrow, slightly fleshy, alternate leaves up to 7cm long, and very small flowers solitary in the axils of the upper leaves.
