| Eucalyptus
radiata (forth river peppermint) is an uncommon eucalypt that grows on
relatively dry and fire prone slopes in north-western
Tasmania (e.g. along the Forth River near Lemonthyme Power
Station.
It is an erect tree with fibrous bark reaching the higher
branches. It can be confused with E.
amygdalina but the leaves, especially the
juvenile leaves are considerably broader. E.
rodwayi has
a similar habit, but only has seven flowers per umbel and
grows in swampy places. It is a members of
the peppermint group of species, which also includes, E. nitida,
E. tenuiramis, E.
coccifera, E.
risdonii and
E. pulchella.
