Previously thought to occur only in New Zealand,
Acrobolbus spinifolius has only recently been recorded in Tasmania.
The species may be quite uncommon, having being collected from only a few
localities. The leaves are lobed and the margins have small
spine-like teeth.
A. spinifolius resemble Tylimanthus tenellus but is
much smaller and have little or no stem cortex cells, whereas
Tylimanthus has 2-3 layers of well defined cortex cells.
