Tasmania has two native and three introduced species of Mentha (mints). These are are all herbs with small flowers. M. australis is a rare native herb found in Tasmania only near Launceston. The introduced species are spearmint (M. spicata), peppermint (M. x piperita) and pennyroyal (M. pulegium).
