Gentianella diemensis (tasmanian snowgentian) is an endemic herb that is found widely in Tasmanian subalpine-alpine areas.

There are two subspecies:

G. diemensis subsp. plantaginea (the ben lomond snowgentian) grows in the north east of the state including on Ben Lomond and Mt Barrow. It has leaves with a pointed tip and often bears the remains of flowering stems from previous years. It can flower several times (polycarpic).

G. diemensis subsp, diemensis (tasmanian snowgentian) has a wider distribution mainly in the west of the state including Cradle Mountain and Mt Field. Leaves are broader at the ends and usually not pointed. It dies after a single flowering (monocarpic).
