Acacia
leprosa (varnish wattle) is one of several species of
Acacia with broad phyllodes. The phyllodes are
distinctly viscid (glutinous or sticky) and have two main
veins. It is a common wet forest tree (or large shrub).
Plants with atypically smaller phyllodes are known to grow
in a few localities in the north-east of the state. Further
work is needed to determine if these plants (referred to in
the Census as Acacia sp. Sugarloaf) are a new
species
